SPORTS ILLUSTRATED Magazine in their MASTERS PREVIEW edition mentioned the Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech as one of two of the "Best Courses On The Way" to The Masters. Sports writer, Joe Passov, noted that travelers on their way to Augusta traveling from I-77 could "enjoy their own thrill fest in Radford, Va., on a 7,665-yard fun house bisected by a 70 foot cliff."
